Isaiah's Missionary Letter "Birds and rats"

This last week has been pretty good. We were able to go to the Temple on Friday. My first time since a year ago in Arizona. So that was awesome. My companion got photos of it all on his nice camera so I am waiting for him to download those so I can send them to you all. It was awesome to be there but it was a little disappointing. Our entire zone went and when we got there we did the session, then immediately left after some quick photos. I was hoping we would be able to do something as a zne since we were all down there and we all just drove for 4 1/2 hours to get there. But our mission president had us get back on the road. I drove all the way down which wasn't too bad. Then my companion started driving for an hour on our way back when he had a Michael Scott experience while driving. So he had me finish driving back for another 3 hours. That night and the next day I was so tired. That was a long day but definitely worth it. Also, on our way to the Temple, there are these big birds in SA, and a couple of them flew in front of the car while I was driving and I hit a couple of them on the windshield. Somehow they all were able to stay in the air and fly away. So that was interesting.

So then continuing with the purpose of the subject of this email, we found out that we have rats in our boarding. Supposedly. One of the Elders was over and as he was leaving he said a rat ran into our boarding. So everyone was freaking out about this. We searched our entire boarding and couldn't find it. Only this one Elder supposedly saw it come in. So after we couldn't find it we had second guesses about how serious he was. But he said he saw it so we grabbed all of our important stuff and slept over at the other Elder boarding because my companion would not sleep in ours knowing that there could be a rat there. Today we are moving back into our boarding and we even put traps out and so far nothing. But we deep cleaned everything just to make sure.

Thursday of course was Thanksgiving and in SA they don't celebrate Thanksgiving here. But since half of my district is America  we decided on doing Thanksgiving together. At first we had a great plan where we would make all thus food, but when the day actually came we got too lazy so we brought this big KFC meal. I was the only one to make something. It's called chakalaka, which is like a spicy bean and veggie side dish. So we had chakalaka, KFC dunked wings, KFC fries, KFC nuggets, KFC drumsticks, we also bought potato salad, soda, cake, and ice cream. It was a lot of food and it was really good. Had plenty of leftovers for the next day too.

An Elder in my District has been playing the Guitar for years and he is really good. So he bought a guitar here in SA. So now that he's been playing it, he convinced my companion to also buy one. So my companion has a guitar now and he's been playing for a week now. This one Elder has been teaching us how to play. I can so far play the begging of Let Her Go by the Passengers, Hey there Delilah, and Banana Pancakes by Jack Johnson. I have also learned on the Uke how to play Billie Jean and the office theme song. So the days when we had to stay with the other Elders, we pretty much played the guitar and the uke at night.
