Isaiah's Farewell Talk!

Isaiah gave a beautiful farewell talk (over zoom) to our Clearview Ward.  This is what he shared in part of his talk.

"I'd like to summarize another very inspiring story that I have heard.  In 1989 a terrible earthquake killed over 30,000 people in Armenia.  The story follows a father, who knew his young son was in the midst of the earthquake at school.  When he arrived at the school, he found that the building had been leveled.  The father remembered that he made a promise to his son that he will always be there for him.  The father then continued to dig through the rubble.  Bystanders, local fire chief, and police all tried to stop him from putting his own life in danger.  For over 36 hours straight, this man continued to dig in the hopes that he would find his son and keep his promise.  At one point he pulled back a chunk of concrete and hear his sons voice.  The son said "Dad!  It's me.  I told the other kids not to worry.  I told them that if you were alive, you'd save me and when you saved me, they'd be saved."  13 other kids were saved as well because of this man.

If we liken this story and imagine that we are that son who is trapped, but have a strong faith that Christ who this father represents, will turn back stone to reach out and save us.  If we know that Christ is alive, and that he will come to save us, and because of our faith in Christ as it says in Helaman 5:12 "that when the devil shall send forth his mighty winds, yea, his shafts in the whirlwind, yea,. when all his hail and his mighty storm shall beat upon you, it shall have no power over you to drag you down to the gulf of misery and endless wo."  The relationship between this father and son was no match for any trial that is to come in their way.  We must be that son and call to our Savior to know that we have faith in him and that we all will be saved."
