What Quarantine is like, by Sophia!

I first heard that there was a virus going around at school in January. We were watching a CNN 10 and it was talking about how the first person got Corona virus in Wuhan China. I wasn't to concerned because I knew that we had great scientists on it already. Then when I would watch the news with my mom, more and more cases were popping up. When I would go to school there were a lot of rumors spreading around about Corona Virus. Some of them were: North Korea is purposely spreading a virus to rule the world, it is very, very deadly, it is just like a cold, and more stuff like that. 

School continued to be that way for about a week, then there was an outbreak of cases, and there started to be a lot of deaths as well. That is when people started to get really worried because it was headed for the USA. People were running to the store planning on stocking up on food and toilet paper. Shelves were going empty and people were more worried than ever! My mom works at Jackson high school and soon a kid that goes to that school got Corona Virus and the school was shut down. That is when my mom started to work from home. More and more schools were being shut down because they wanted to protect their students. My school Cathcart Elementary was surrounded by school that are shut down. 

One day Mrs. Brumley (my teacher) decided to start to construct a plan in case we are having to be shut down. That night we got a call from the Snohomish School District saying that school will be canceled till April 24th. But, before we had to be home schooled we finished the week for school. 

The  week before was the craziest week of all. In my class me and my best friend would come in and wash down all of the tables, and when the other kids came in the loaded up Hand Sanitizer. It was the last Friday at school that we would have had in a while. We loaded up all of our bags until they were as heavy as an Ox. I said goodbye to all of my friends knowing that I wouldn't see them in a while. I thought that being home from school was enough, but when cases bumped up again, we were told to be home quarantined. That meant everyone was home, even my dad. 

That is when my mom decided to make a plan of what we were going to do for the time that we would be at home. We created a plan of what we were going to do then we started to implement that plan. My teacher sent home a list of school stuff to do but it was all optional. then a week later we got another call saying school will be canceled for the rest of the year. That was when Mrs. Brumley started to give us more and more assignments. 

Now we have about 10 assignments to do everyday, which includes: novel, math, science, near pod, and flip grid. Every day at 10:00 A.M my class will have a zoom meeting and we go over what we need to do. Also, we are doing a fitness program so we can get energy out. Every week feels the same, I have lots, and lots of zoom meetings everyday, and am working very hard on getting all of my assignments turned in. Next, week my mom will go back to work, (with no students) so I don't know what i am going to do without her. I hope things will stat to get better soon because we had a huge road trip planned and we were going to go to amusement parks but now we can't do that. I wonder when this will all be over, maybe we will never know.
