Sometimes I feel a little bad for Connor. If something
bad is going to happen…. it will most likely happen to Connor. (He takes after
his Dad.) I can’t begin to count how many times (when he was
younger and shorter) that he would hit his head on the door handles down our
hallway. Or even now, how often he accidentally bites his tongue during dinner. He even
dropped a bowling ball on his head. (That’s a story for another time because
really… how can you drop a bowling ball on your own head.) Poor guy!
Anyway, one of his bottom teeth has been threatening to
come out for the last day or two and today it finally came out. Connor was so
excited he called me at work to tell me the good news. He was talking so fast
and telling me all about it, how it didn’t even hurt, how it looks really cool,
and how much money he thinks the tooth fairy will bring him. After a few
minutes of hearing all about his exciting news I hung up.
A few minutes later my desk phone rings again. This
time it’s Isaiah. He called to tell me that Connor was washing his tooth (to
get it nice and shiny for the tooth fairy) when it fell down the drain. Of course Connor is completely upset and I can hear him in the background crying. Yep…
this is the second time he won’t have a tooth to put under his pillow.
(We can thank Koda for the 1st tooth that went missing and nobody wanted to try to find that
one.)
So now my very happy and excited 7-year old, is a sad and a “why oh why does this happen to me” 7-year old.
I guess he’ll have to write another note to the tooth
fairy explaining what happened and hope she will still leave him
something.
